I didn't arrive here because life was easy.

I grew up in an environment where love, fear, survival, responsibility, and dysfunction often existed in the same room. I learned independence far earlier than a child should have to. I learned how to protect, how to provide, how to figure things out, and how to keep moving — even when I didn't fully understand what I was carrying.

For a long time, I thought that was simply strength. As I grew older, I realized some of it was survival. And there is a difference.

One of the hardest parts about generational dysfunction is that you don't always recognize it while you're living in it. When something has existed in your family long enough, abnormal can begin to feel normal. Trauma becomes 'that's just how our family is.' Silence becomes loyalty. Chaos becomes familiar. Unhealthy relationships become something we learn to tolerate. And survival gets mistaken for strength.

Whether you call them generational curses, generational cycles, inherited trauma, or learned behavior — I believe we have a responsibility to examine what has been handed to us before we hand it to somebody else. Especially our children.

Being independent became part of my identity. When you've spent much of your life figuring things out, 'I've got it' becomes almost automatic. And independence can be a gift. It taught me resilience. It taught me creativity. It taught me how to build, lead, mother, serve, work, dream, and start again.

But God began showing me that independence and alignment are not always the same thing. Sometimes the very strength that helped you survive one season can prevent you from surrendering in the next.

I could encourage someone else about self-love while still needing to examine what I tolerated in my own life. I could speak about purpose while wrestling with distractions that weren't aligned with mine. I could pour into everyone around me while forgetting that the woman doing all that pouring needed restoration too.

Healing wasn't going to mean pretending the past never happened. It meant refusing to let the past dictate the future. And faith wasn't going to be something I simply talked about. It had to become something I lived. Wholeheartedly.

Power Unmuted: THE SHOW didn't begin from nothing. It evolved. The original platform, Bosses Talk: THE SHOW, was created to sit down with entrepreneurs, leaders, creatives, and people of influence and ask a bigger question: What are you doing with the power you've been given?

I still believe in that question. But life deepened it. I realized I wasn't only interested in people's success. I wanted to know their story. What happened before the accomplishment. What almost stopped you. What are you still healing from. What have you never said out loud.

What does faith look like when nobody is watching? What does your socioeconomic reality look like behind the image presented to the world? What do our teenagers actually think and feel when adults stop speaking for them and simply listen? What is happening in our communities?

That's when Bosses Talk became Power Unmuted.

Power Unmuted is intentionally a two-way platform. Yes, I am the host. But I don't want to sit behind a microphone pretending I have every answer. I want you to come sit with me.

Because I believe meaningful change begins when people have enough courage to tell the truth — and enough compassion to listen when someone else's truth doesn't sound exactly like theirs.

My faith is at the center of who I am becoming. Not because I have lived perfectly. Quite the opposite. My relationship with God has required me to confront myself, surrender repeatedly, recognize where I was divided, and understand that purpose requires alignment.

I know what it is to wrestle. I know what it is to rebuild. I know what it is to love people while learning boundaries. I know what it is to realize that breaking a generational cycle isn't simply saying, 'I'm going to be different.' It's doing the work required to actually live differently. And I'm still doing that work.

I'm not hosting Power Unmuted from the finish line. I'm hosting it from the journey. Because I don't want perfection sitting across from me. I want people. Real people. Real lives. Real questions. Real transformations. Real testimonies.
